Chiaki Shimizu

Chiaki Shimizu is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of fashion, photography, and urban memory. Her past camouflage projects in Saudi Arabia and Japan explore cultural fusion, sustainability, and the emotional power of clothing. She received the Grand Prix at Rokko Meets Art for her work combining clothing with natural landscapes. During her residency at Center Rog, she will create camouflage clothing that blends in with the architectural and natural elements of Ljubljana. She will use used clothing, fabric remnants, and advanced textile techniques (embroidery, digital knitting) to create distinctive garments that will be photographed in an urban environment. Elements of Jože Plečnik's architecture will also be incorporated into the design. As part of the project, she will explore the relationship between tradition and technology and use clothing as a medium for exploring identity, emotions, and the relationship between people and the city. She will also lead a workshop at Center Rog, where participants will use fabric remnants to make camouflage bags that blend in with the environment.

At Designer in Residency from 17.8. to 15.11.2025.
