Rog's World Flavours: Venezuela

Rog's World Flavours is a series of culinary workshops dedicated to exploring the cuisines of different countries around the world. Each workshop introduces one country through its culinary traditions, characteristic ingredients and recipes.

At the Rog Tastes of the World: Venezuela workshop, designed for adults, we will discover pasapalos – traditional Venezuelan snacks that are an essential part of birthdays, weddings, family celebrations and other festivities.

Together, we will prepare the dough from scratch and make tequeños, empanadas and pastelitos, three of the most popular Venezuelan snacks. We will also explore different cheese and chicken fillings and prepare traditional sauces served with these dishes.

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and cooking enthusiasts.

In addition to hands-on cooking, participants will learn about the stories and traditions associated with Venezuelan celebrations and discover how simple snacks can become an important part of social gatherings and hospitality. All the recipes can also be easily prepared at home.

The programme will be held in English.

About the mentor

Valeria Citterer is a visual artist from Venezuela, a member of the Young Rog programme and a culinary workshop mentor at Center Rog. Her work brings together food, ceramics and visual art, exploring how culinary practices can build community, preserve cultural memory and connect people from different cultures.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the start of the programme in the entrance lobby of Center Rog. Please store personal belongings in the lockers that will be shown to you by the mentor. Please arrive on time, as late entry into the lab cannot be guaranteed due to disruption of the working process.

The programme is intended for participants aged 14 and above unless otherwise stated.

In case of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the scheduled start.

If you are unable to attend, fees are non-refundable and the date cannot be changed. Participation may be transferred to another person, provided you inform us at least 24 hours before the start at kuhanje@center-rog.si.
