Course for Sewing a Shirt or a Shirt Dress

This course is designed for those who already have some sewing experience and offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills by creating a shirt or shirt dress, tailored to your own measurements and style. You will learn advanced techniques that will further develop your sewing and pattern-making abilities.

Under the mentorship, you will:

• Model the basic pattern for the upper part,
• Insert pleats or insets and add a cuff,
• Model a collar with a stand and shape the final garment,
• Prepare and reinforce individual pattern pieces,
• Sew them neatly together and finish all details.

At the end of the course, you will take home a professionally made shirt or shirt dress, tailored to your measurements and made from fabric of your choice.

Course dates:
10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, and 18th December 2025 (Wednesdays and Thursdays)
Time: 16:00–20:00

Prior knowledge:

The course is suitable for participants with basic sewing and pattern-making knowledge. It is ideal if you have previously attended other modules at Center Rog, such as the pants or skirt sewing courses, or have gained similar skills elsewhere.

Training:

This course counts as training for the sewing station.

Material Purchase Guidelines:

You can obtain the fabric for the shirt at the course (white shirt cotton) or purchase it yourself. If buying the fabric, please follow these guidelines:

• Fabric should be 100% shirt cotton (poplin),
• No elastane,
• Quantity: sleeve length + shirt length,
• Pre-wash the fabric to prevent shrinkage.

About the mentors:

The course is led by Karmen Gombač – fashion designer, master of pattern-making and sewing, and expert in various textile techniques and technologies – and Uroš Topić – head of the Textile Lab, textile and fashion designer, tailor, and expert in historical garments.

Payment in two installments:

Courses over €100 can be paid in two installments. Payment is possible at the Made in Rog shop or via bank transfer after receiving a proforma invoice by contacting tajnistvo@center-rog.si

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled start time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which the mentor will show you. Please be on time, as late arrivals disrupt the workflow. In the case of a delay, entry to the lab cannot be guaranteed.

The program will be conducted in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

The program is intended for participants older than 14 years, except where noted otherwise.

In case of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the scheduled start.

If you are unable to attend the program, the registration fee is non-refundable, and it is not possible to change the date. You can transfer your participation to another person, but please notify us at least 24 hours before the program begins at the email address: tekstil@center-rog.si
