Lea Madarasi
Lea Madarasi is a philosophy graduate with a PhD in the humanities and social sciences. She never really imagined that jewellery design would one day be her true profession, although she has always loved to create and admire the results of working with her own hands. After years of studying, exploring intangible concepts, opening doors to abstract understandings of the world and expanding cognitive frameworks of understanding, working with silver which materialises ideas into tangible, physical forms, has brought her a fresh and new perspective. The shift from the epistemological to the ontological, highlights the gap between theoretical research and the material manifestation of the creative process. Her first explorations into silver working began with silver clay, where the process of design combines chemical and physical transformations into a finished product. However, she is increasingly drawn to classical silversmithing techniques and the complexity of stone setting, where precision and creative experimentation meet. Under the guidance of Metka Mikuletič, Dalija Sega, Olga Košica and Peter Dragolič, mentors in the Jewellery Lab, she is gaining invaluable knowledge during her residency, which allows her to gain a deeper understanding of design approaches.
