Tortillas for Little Chefs (in Slovenian)

Did you know that tortillas in Mexico were traditionally made from corn flour, while today wheat tortillas are popular all over the world? Tortillas form the basis of many Mexican dishes, which can easily be prepared at home without any special equipment. Freshly baked homemade tortillas are soft and fragrant — completely different from store-bought ones!

In this culinary workshop, children will learn how this popular dish is made from basic ingredients and how to customize it to their own taste. They will learn how to prepare the dough for tortillas, roll it out, and cook it on a pan. Then, together we will prepare a variety of fillings: vegetable, cheese, and meat and learn how to properly fill and roll the tortillas so that the filling stays inside.

We invite all young chefs who want to discover the basics of preparing Mexican food, create a delicious meal from simple ingredients, and have fun at the same time. At the end of the workshop, participants will of course eat their tortillas, and the rest can be taken home so the whole family can enjoy fresh, homemade tortillas.

The workshop is designed for children aged 8 and above.

About the Mentor

The workshop will be led by Juš Mejaš, mentor at the Food Lab.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled start in the main lobby of Center Rog. Please store personal belongings in the lockers provided by the instructor. Arrive on time, as late entry cannot be guaranteed and may disrupt the workshop.

The program is conducted in Slovenian, unless otherwise specified.

The program is intended for participants aged 14 and older, unless otherwise specified.

In case of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the scheduled start. If you are unable to attend, the fee is non-refundable, and the session cannot be rescheduled. Participation can be transferred to another person if you notify us at least 24 hours in advance at kuhanje@center-rog.si.
