Jewellery Patination Course
29. 5. 2025

In this short course in the Jewellery Lab, we will learn patination – the process of permanently colouring and texturing metal using appropriate tools – while creating a pair of coral-inspired earrings.
We’ll go through the entire process of making metal jewellery. Starting with small metal sheets, we will draw or transfer a coral motif onto them and, following the mentor’s instructions, saw it out. The sawn piece will then be filed, sanded, and textured using various forging tools. The second part of the coral motif will be coloured with metal patina, revealing an intriguing colour transformation on the surface of the material. The final step will be preparing the earring hooks and assembling the complete motif.
The "coral" earrings will thus be a striking combination of two different metals, textures, and colours.
