French cuisine workshop (in Slovenian)
17. 3. 2026
The Food Lab will smell like France! Join us for a workshop where we will learn classic French techniques adapted for the home kitchen. Across three sessions, we will gain hands-on experience and master the fundamental principles of cooking, perfected over centuries by French chefs.
In the first session, we will focus on making essential stocks (brown, white, fish) and sauces (classic and vegan). We will prepare simple soups and salads with vinaigrette dressings, and learn egg techniques ranging from poached eggs to Eggs Benedict. This session will lay a solid foundation for further culinary exploration.
In the second session, we will focus on meat and fish. You will learn cleaning, cutting, and filleting techniques, as well as cooking methods for meat and fish (e.g., steak, roasted or pan-fried fish). We will also prepare quick side dishes such as crispy fries and seasonal vegetables, while exploring how versatile prepared stocks and sauces can be.
The third session will be dedicated to doughs and desserts. We will bake at least one savory pastry and one simple dessert of your choice, and try quick recipes for fresh pasta. This session will reinforce your knowledge of dough handling and basic pastry techniques, and you will be ready to try your new skills in your own kitchen adventures.
