Wall hanger (in Slovenian)

In the course, we will create a modern wall hanger from wood, which can fit nicely into various spaces – from the hallway to the bedroom or study. The hanger is designed to fold compactly against the wall while allowing flexible arrangement of the wooden slats, making each piece slightly different.

The course is also suitable for those with little experience using machines. During the work, we will gradually learn all five basic operations of the combined woodworking machine (kombinirka). The program simultaneously provides training for working on the machine – kombinirka 1 and 2 – enabling participants to use the machine independently in the workshop later.

Each participant will choose their own piece of wood and decide the arrangement of the slats, resulting in a unique, personalized hanger.

Course process

Session 1
At the beginning, we will present the product and the work process. Then we will prepare the wood for processing – first by jointing and thickness planing, and then cutting the slats to width on the circular saw (multiple slats at once). This will be followed by another thickness planing to the final dimension.

Session 2
In the second session, we will cut the slats to length and, using a template, cut them at an angle on the circular saw. On the table router, we will make grooves and mortise joints, then drill holes (Ø 8.5 mm) for connecting the elements with a dowel rod Ø 8 mm.

Session 3
In the final session, we will round the slats with a hand router, sand them by hand, and protect them with oil. Then we will assemble the hanger dry, check the fit of the elements, and finally glue it. At the end, we will cut the back panel on the circular saw.

After the course, each participant will take home their handmade wall hanger and gain basic knowledge for safe use of the combined woodworking machine.

Prior knowledge?

NO, no prior experience is required.

Does the course count as training?

YES, participation in the course completes training for the kombinirka 1 and kombinirka 2 workstations.

The course will be led by Klemen Udovič, mentor in the Wood Lab.

Payment in two installments

Courses costing more than €100 can be paid in two installments. Payment is possible in the Made in Rog shop or via bank transfer after receiving a proforma invoice, if you contact us at tajnistvo@center-rog.si.

The gathering of participants is 15 minutes before the start of the program in the entrance lobby of Center rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers that will be shown to you by the mentor. Do not be late for the program, as this disrupts the working process. In case of lateness, entry to the lab unfortunately cannot be guaranteed.

The program takes place in Slovenian, unless stated otherwise.

The program is intended for participants older than 14 years, unless stated otherwise.

In case of cancellation, we will inform you two days before the planned start.

If you cannot attend the program, participation fees are not refunded, and the term cannot be exchanged. You can transfer your participation to another person, about which please inform us at least 24 hours before the start at les@center-rog.si
