Glass sushi set (in Slovenian)
30. 5. 2026
You are invited to a course in the glass lab, where we will learn to create with glass and make a unique glass sushi set. The three-piece set, consisting of a tray with feet, a chopstick holder, and a small soy sauce cup, will be made over three sessions.
1st session: Designing and casting glass
We will start by designing the model for the chopstick holder. Molds for the glass casting technique will be created. Crystal glass will be placed into these prepared molds, and the pieces will be prepared for firing in the kiln.
2nd session: Fusing and bending glass
In the second session, we will focus on shaping the tray using glass fusing techniques. We will get familiar with cutting and grinding glass, assembling compositions, and adding colored powders to create unique patterns. In the second half of the session, we will also prepare glass for bending over molds, which will be used to form the mini soy sauce cup.
3rd session: Cold working and finishing
In the final session, we will take the previously fired pieces out of the kiln, clean them, and continue with cold working. Each component will be further ground, polished, and finalized to ensure they are aesthetically refined and ready for use.
