In this children’s woodworking workshop, you will make a simple wooden toolbox and learn how individual pieces of wood can be turned into a strong, useful object. The workshop is designed as an introduction to basic woodworking, hand tools and safe work in the Wood Lab.

Step by step, you will learn how to measure, mark, saw, sand, drill, screw and assemble wood into a finished object. You will use hand tools and selected cordless tools under the guidance of a mentor, who will make sure that the work is safe, clear and carried out in the right order.

The workshop encourages precision, manual skills, patience and an understanding of the material. In woodworking, every step affects the next one – so you will learn how to plan your work, follow the process and check along the way whether the individual parts fit together properly.

At the end of the workshop, you will take home your own wooden toolbox, which you can use for storing tools, creative materials or other small items. The toolbox can also be the first step towards your own tool collection and new woodworking projects.

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is intended for children aged 9 to 15. No prior knowledge is required.

About the mentor

The workshop is led by Anže Jenko, mentor at Center Rog’s Wood Lab. He introduces participants to the safe use of woodworking tools, basic wood-processing techniques and thoughtful work with materials. In his mentoring, he pays special attention to clear instructions, step-by-step work and understanding why each stage of the process matters. He helps children use tools confidently, safely and with a good feel for wood.
