Cycling Bag – Stem Bag (in Slovenian)
18. 4. 2026
For all cyclists – this spring we are launching a series of three workshops on making waterproof bags for your bikes! Make your spring and summer cycling adventures even more enjoyable with custom-made bags for food, drinks, small tools, accessories, and more.
In the second workshop of the series, we will make a bag for the bike’s stem (stem bag / feed bag), which can also be worn over the shoulder. The bag is practical for storing a water bottle, snacks during your ride, or any other item you want quick and easy access to. It features a waterproof lining that is easy to clean, and the bag can be opened and closed with one hand while riding.
In addition to the basic bag-sewing techniques from the first module of this series, we will also learn to work with special hardware, basic techniques for TPU materials, and methods for inserting reinforcements. Alongside the bag, we will make an adjustable strap for carrying it over the shoulder.

Does this workshop count as training?
YES, participation provides training for the sewing station.
Material Guidelines
Material for the bag is included in the workshop fee: Challenge sailcloth ECOPAK™ EPLX 400 in white or black for the bag body, and 70D ripstop with PU coating in orange and black. All hardware is mostly provided in black. If you wish to use other materials, you can purchase them yourself. Please follow these instructions if buying your own fabric:
- Fabric should be heavy, waterproof, coated, or laminated (ECOPAK, X-PAC). If you want to use the seam tape available in the lab, it must match the Challenge EPLX series. For PU or AC coated textiles, make sure to obtain the corresponding seam tape. For the lining and top section, we recommend at least 70D PU-coated fabric on the backside.
- How much fabric to buy? For the bag, 0.3 m of material is sufficient. For special choices (different cord or strap colors), consult the lab mentors in advance at tekstil@center-rog.si.
