Material Playroom

At the Materials Playroom, we collect a colourful variety of materials that are either used in our labs or no longer have a direct use in production processes. Fabric scraps, cardboard tubes, pieces of wood and plywood, offcuts from laser and CNC cutting, metal scraps, failed 3D prints, unfinished ceramic pieces and other materials are given a new lease of life – becoming the starting point for free play, exploration and creativity.

Play is a child's natural way of learning, exploring and expressing themselves. Open-ended materials allow children to experiment, assemble, take apart, combine and continually discover new ways of using them. Through this process, they develop their imagination, creativity, independent thinking and self-confidence, while finding their own solutions to challenges that arise during play. With no predefined rules or expected outcomes, their exploration is guided primarily by curiosity and imagination.

During the Rog Design Days festival, the Materials Playroom will welcome children aged 4 to 10 whose parents are attending the Rog Forum conference.

We also invite all other children and their parents or guardians to explore the materials together, regardless of whether they are attending the festival. In this case, the playroom is open to children from toddler age up to 10 years old, and parents must remain present throughout the visit.

You are welcome to drop in at any time during the programme and stay for as long as you like.
