Homemade potica
16. 12. 2025
Slovenian potica is among the traditional desserts that our ancestors have been able to prepare for centuries. Traditionally, potica is baked for Easter celebrations and carries the designation of Guaranteed Traditional Specialty. There are five protected types of fillings: walnut, walnut with raisins, raisin, caraway, and caraway with cottage cheese.
We will prepare a traditional walnut potica using our grandmothers' recipe. We will knead the dough, prepare the filling, and then shape and bake the potica, which we will also taste and discuss at the end of the workshop. This workshop is for anyone who would like to learn how to make traditional homemade potica.
About the Mentors:
The workshop will be led by Mag. Iva Verbnik, a university graduate in food technology and a master's degree holder in integrated quality management systems, who graduated in dietetics under Prof. Dr. Dražigost Pokorn. She has been interested in food and nutrition since early childhood, as she enjoyed cooking and exploring as a girl.
