Kokedama is a centuries-old form of Japanese gardening art, associated with the practice of growing bonsai. It consists of the plant's root system, bound with soft green moss and soil, providing support and space for the plant's growth. Such a botanical artwork, suitable for decoration that you can hang or place anywhere in your home, will be created in the Green Lab.

The workshop will begin with a discussion on proper plant care techniques. We will explore how often plants should be watered, how much light they need, and how to maintain them, also touching upon common troubleshooting.

In the second part of the program, participants will be guided through the process of creating kokedama. This will include:

  • Choosing a suitable indoor plant for transformation - we will use the Primula flower.
  • Learning how to prepare the plant and its roots for the kokedama process.
  • Creating a soil ball by wrapping the plant's roots in moss.
  • Attaching strings or chains for hanging - basics of macrame technique.

The program is intended for children aged 7 to 12 who enjoy getting their hands dirty and want to give their moms a blooming kokedama for Mother's Day.

Participants should gather 5 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Children participate in the workshop without the accompaniment of parents.

The workshop will be conducted with a minimum of 6 registrations. In case of non-execution, you will be notified at least two days before the start of the program.

Attendance at the workshop can be transferred to another person, please notify us at least 24 hours before the start at the email address: zeleni@center-rog.si.
