Design at the center: Hana Karim
17. 6. 2026
Ceramics is one of the oldest materials of human civilization, yet Hana Karim persistently shifts it away from its traditional role, opening up new possibilities of expression. Her works emerge at the intersection of sculpture, painting, and spatial art, where she develops a distinctive artistic language through an exploration of color, form, material, and space.
What sets Hana Karim apart from many contemporary creators is her exceptional sensitivity to color. Her compositions arise from a subtle dialogue between order and intuition, between the materiality of clay and an almost painterly perception of space.
In the talk, we will explore her creative journey, her relationship to material, and the question of how to build an authentic artistic expression in a time of rapid image production. We will also discuss her role as a mentor and educator. Creators from around the world come to Hana Karim’s studio to learn from her. What is it that goes beyond technique and inspires people to travel thousands of kilometers for her knowledge, experience, and creative energy?
You are warmly invited to join us for a talk on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 PM at Specialka Café. The conversation will be moderated by Katjuša Kranjc.

The Design in the Centre program, organized by DCLJ in collaboration with Center Rog, strengthens the role of both partners within the design community and significantly contributes to fostering a vibrant creative dialogue in the city.
