Tufting workshop - two days!

In the textile lab, we will be tufting! What exactly is tufting? It’s one of the techniques for making rugs, which allows you to fairly easily create various textile products. The advantage of tufting is that even complete beginners can create their own artistic piece in just a few hours, whether it’s a mini rug or a tapestry for the wall.

In the two-day workshop, we will first get acquainted with the tufting technique itself, learn how to use the electric tufting gun and other tufting tools, and make a few test pieces. After the initial attempts, we will get straight to work on the final product. We will transfer the design to canvas stretched on a wooden frame and create our tufted product. The back will be glued while still on the frame. On the second day, we will remove the piece from the frame, finish the edges, and glue the back with protective felt. The finished tufted product can be taken home by each participant.

We invite everyone who would like to learn a new textile creation technique and make a unique textile piece for their home.

Tips before the workshop:

• Before the workshop, think about the motif, shapes, and colors of your product.
• Details are hard to tuft, so we recommend that the motif is very simple.
• If the motif involves a mirrored print, please bring a 1:1 scale print on regular paper.

Duration: 2x 4 or 3 hours

• Thursday, April 17, from 4 PM to 8 PM
• Friday, April 18, from 5 PM to 7 PM

Prerequisite knowledge:

NO, no prior knowledge is required.

About the mentors:

The workshop will be led by Andreja Benedejčič from the Carpet Diem studio.

The meeting point for participants is 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of the Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which the mentor will show you. Please do not be late, as it disrupts the working process. Unfortunately, we cannot allow entry into the lab if you are late.

The program will be conducted in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the planned start.

If you cannot attend the program, the participation fee is non-refundable, and it’s not possible to change the date. You can transfer your participation to someone else, but please notify us at least 24 hours before the program starts via email: tekstil@center-rog.si
