In this clay-cut (linocut) workshop, we will explore the intriguing intersection of two expressive techniques—working with clay and linocut carving. We will discover how the traditional approach of incising lines and motifs can be translated onto three-dimensional ceramic surfaces and used in a fresh, playful way.

The workshop will focus on exploration and experimentation. Rather than striving for a perfect result, we will open up space for testing different approaches, textures, and visual expressions. This technique allows us to engage more freely with form and surface, turning each piece into a unique reflection of personal expression.

We will begin by sketching an idea, then transfer our motifs directly onto clay using linocut tools. Along the way, we will observe how a drawn line transforms into relief on the surface and how simple interventions can create striking visual effects.

The workshop is intended for adults—both beginners and those with some prior experience—who are interested in creative processes, hands-on work, and exploring new techniques. It is especially suited to anyone looking to step outside conventional approaches and experiment with a more open, exploratory way of working with ceramics.

After the workshop, the Glass and Ceramics Lab team will take care of firing and glazing the pieces. The finished works will be ready for collection in approximately one month at the Made in Rog shop.

The workshop is part of the accompanying programme of the 6th International Ceramics Triennial UNICUM 2026.
