Biomaterial from walnut leaves
24. 6. 2025

Walnut leaves are often ignored or even unwanted because of their inherent toxic properties, which prevent their effective decomposition in nature or compost. In addition, they release harmful substances when burned, which makes them impossible to dispose of by conventional methods. What if, instead of disposing of them, we offered them a new lease of life?
Join us for a workshop exploring how walnut leaves can be reused in the context of circular and regenerative design. We will learn about the unique properties of these leaves, learn basic techniques for processing them and think about local organic waste as a resource that, with the right amount of knowledge, creativity and research, can become innovative building blocks for the future.
Researchers, designers, architects and other creatives interested in materials, biomimicry, ecology and sustainable development are invited.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and requires no prior knowledge. The workshop will be conducted in English.
The workshop will led by Veronika Róza Háló, who is part of a Makers in Residency programme. Her residency is supported by the Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Centre Ljubljana.
