On the first anniversary of its operation, the Rog Library is enriched with a wall mural by illustrator Matija Medved

The new mural was officially unveiled today at a special event, attended by the author and children from the "Metuljčki" group from the "Vrtec pod Gradom" kindergarten, and hosted by Boštjan Gorenc Pižama. The mural was supported by the HELIOS brand, and illustrator Matija Medved created a 30m2 mural in green that catches the eye with both its chosen motif and flawless execution.

Matija Medved (1990) holds a master's degree in visual communications from ALUO. He works in the fields of illustration, graphics, drawing, painting, animation, and design. He creates posters, illustrates books, newspapers, magazines, collaborates with prestigious international media, and has received numerous awards both domestically and abroad. As a member of the Ansambel collective, he is the co-author of the award-winning visual identity of Center Rog, contributing illustrations.

On his latest collaboration with Center Rog, he said: "Since this was a mural for a library, I envisioned a calming motif that depicts the joy of reading. At the same time, I wanted to optically expand the space, which I achieved with the landscape motif. The wall is large – to avoid overwhelming the space, I painted the image using green stripes instead of solid color blocks."

The Rog Library warmly welcomed the enhancement of their space:
"Matija Medved’s mural will beautifully enrich the children’s and youth section. Rog Library will soon celebrate its first anniversary, and the encouraging results of visits and borrowing indicate that placing the local library in Center Rog was the right decision," said Teja Zorko, Director of the Ljubljana City Library, at the event during the unveiling of the illustration.

Renata Zamida, Director of Center Rog, who with her team ensures that creativity is reflected in every corner of the creative center, added: "Matija Medved is an outstanding creator, and I believe it is important to address children with high-quality content. Moreover, the library is an excellent complement to our community workshops on the ground floor, as both concepts are very connected, and thanks to the library, the building also attracts a very diverse audience."

The event was also attended by Dejan Crnek, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Ljubljana, and Mateja Demšič, Head of the Department of Culture.
