Meeting of the European Fab City Network at Center Rog

The meeting focuses on the ongoing transition from Fab Cities to Fab City Hubs, exploring how local infrastructures for production, learning, and community engagement can evolve into stronger territorial systems. The gathering provides space for practical dialogue, shared strategy, and coordination among the actors actively shaping the future of Fab City’s network in Europe.

The Fab City network, of which Ljubljana and Center Rog are part, connects cities around the world with the ambitious goal of transforming the way we produce and consume. It is based on the idea that by 2054, cities will become self-sufficient in production—through the local manufacture of goods and the global exchange of knowledge. Instead of the “take–make–dispose” model, it promotes a circular economy, digital manufacturing, and open knowledge sharing.

The initiative’s key objectives include strengthening local production capacities, reducing the environmental footprint, promoting innovation, and increasing community involvement in creative processes. In this way, Fab City contributes to the development of sustainable, resilient, and technologically advanced cities based on collaboration and local creativity.
