We are collecting conceptual proposals for the memorial in Park izbrisanih until February 13, 2023, at 3 PM

In Ljubljana, in 2023, we will open the Center Rog, which will operate as an accessible manufacturing space in the former Rog factory building at Trubarjeva 72. The former factory courtyard, approximately 8,000 m2 in size, will be transformed into a green space – a new public park. This change is in line with the decision of the City Council of the Municipality of Ljubljana and, at the initiative of the proposers, Amnesty International Slovenia and the Civil Initiative of the Erased Activists (CIIA), the park will be named Park izbrisanih. The planting in the park follows the principles of an edible park (fruit tree varieties) and eco-friendly planting.
The naming of the park as Park izbrisanih marks the 30th anniversary of the erasure of 25,671 individuals who were illegally removed from the Register of Permanent Residents of Slovenia in 1992. At the initiative of the proposers of the park's naming, we wish to subtly and harmoniously commemorate the erased citizens of Slovenia and the injustice they suffered in the Park izbrisanih, where one of the auxiliary buildings of the former Rog complex housed the Civil Initiative of the Erased Activists for almost 20 years (the Social Center Rog building was located to the right of the main entrance, in the western part of the future park, along the wall with Trubarjeva Street). The commemoration should not take the form of public sculpture but rather as a (functional) object serving as urban equipment.
The memorial must be placed at the designated location, which is indicated in the image above. It may extend into other parts of the green "island," where the memorial is marked, but not beyond a radius of 4 meters from the marked intersection on the green surface. The height of the proposed designs is limited to a maximum of 2 meters.
