Let's Plant Strawberries

Did you know that strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside? And each strawberry contains about 200 seeds!

At this workshop, young gardeners will learn all about strawberries. They'll discover how to plant them properly, how often to water them, and what they need to thrive. Each child will have the opportunity to plant a strawberry seedling in the community garden in front of the Rog Center, and they can take one seedling home in a colorful clay pot that they'll decorate themselves.

In addition to strawberries, children will also have the chance to learn about other edible plants and trees growing in the Park of the Erased in front of the Rog Center. We'll explore different types of plants, the importance of medicinal meadows, and methods for planting and caring for plants. We'll also learn about how plants are structured and what they need to grow. Through workshops like these, we aim to foster a sense of connection between the natural and urban environment among children and youth, highlighting the importance of plants in urban settings for both people and animals. We hope to build a broader community of young and old urban gardeners through such workshops.

The workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years old and will be led by mentors from the green lab at the Rog Center.

Participants should gather in the entrance lobby of the Rog Center 5 minutes before the scheduled time.

The workshop will be held with a minimum of 6 registrations. In case of cancellation, you will be informed at least two days before the start of the program.

We do not refund fees, nor is it possible to change the workshop date. However, you can transfer your participation to another person; please notify us at least 24 hours before the start of the workshop by email at: zeleni@center-rog.si.
